Bex Rimmington successfully completed the Great North Run with an impressive time of 1 hour, 42 minutes, and 15 seconds. Despite the challenging conditions, including getting caught in South Shields due to torrential rain and flooding, the day was a resounding success.
Before the race, Bex was invited on stage to speak about Sjögren’s UK after someone noticed her T-shirt. The charity isn’t as widely recognised as some others, so Bex took the opportunity to share information about Sjögren’s disease with the crowd. Her efforts were met with a warm round of applause, highlighting the importance of raising awareness for this lesser-known condition.
Bex found the day not only rewarding but also meaningful as it provided her with the chance to discuss her personal experiences with Sjögren’s disease. In a touching moment, a friend later reached out to Bex, mentioning that their mother is currently being investigated for Sjögren’s. Bex was more than willing to offer her support and encouraged them to join Sjögren’s UK for further guidance and community support.
